The view from my new place of employment. I'd forgotten just how much I really like being up on the bench. Hanging out up here is part of the reason we've decided to move to Cottonwood Heights, instead of to the South Jordan or Draper area. It might be older, but it's just so insanely beautiful sometimes.

We drove down to Disneyland on this last trip and Kyle got to see Southern Utah for the first time. I tried to warn him that it was just dirt and rocks, but he was excited nonetheless. He took a ton of pictures of the beautiful red rock...for the first five minutes. Five hours later, even he admitted that the desert was getting pretty old.

One of my favorite places to eat in Utah is at Silver Fork Lodge, up Big Cottonwood Canyon. It's never too crowded, the food is delicious, and the view of the mountains is incredible. Kyle and I did a date night up here a couple of weekends ago and I was reminded of all the great reasons we moved out west.

I know part of it has to do with polution and something about the ozone layer, blah blah blah, but I absolutely love the sunsets in Utah. That mountain line just makes everything so gorgeous...

I miss a lot of things about Ohio in the fall. I miss the excitement of Buckeye football. I miss the incredibly lame renaissance festival. I miss gallery hop evenings when the weather is just getting crisp and you're wearing your new favorite boots that kill your feet but you love them anyway.

But as much as I miss all that, Utah in the Autumn has the whole word beat. Hands down.

I never liked Snelgrove ice cream, but I've loved this iconic sign for most of my life. I remain convinced that if you climbed up and licked the ice cream part of the sign, it would be sweet and cold.

A surprisingly bad thunderstorm led to this lovely sunset rainbow, viewed from 20th South and 9th East. It might just be me, but I think you can almost see another rainbow starting to the right...

Utah may have issues, but you can't beat the scenery. I've been bad about photographing our new stomping grounds, so credit for this photo of Zion National Park goes to Zach, my ex, who is unfortunately sporadic about sharing his beautiful photos.
